Mysterious Captivity

Inky pools ringed in vibrance hold me here

I can’t leave, couldn’t stand it.

They hold me here, hold me in the space of the universe

Unwrap the layers of indifference I swaddle my soul in

Examine them, all the in-betweens.

And I can’t go.

They ensconce me in joy.

How could I bear to free myself from the mysterious captivity

When it’s what makes me a mysterious captive,

Subject only to my whims and those of the falling leaves?

No. I won’t go.

I’ll float in the light of the obsidian orbs,

Defining the curious conundrum of life.
